DUI, Vehicular Homicide Charges Filed after Georgia Crash

When a car accident occurs, most people do not intend for them to happen. Still, accidents can have harrowing outcomes, and it is not unusual for drivers to face criminal charges after these events. The charges can vary widely, but if authorities believe that drugs or alcohol played a role, a DUI allegation is almost guaranteed.

It was recently reported that one man in Georgia was taken into custody after a multi-vehicle accident. Apparently, the man was speeding while driving a vehicle north, and his vehicle crashed into the rear of an SUV. The impact caused the SUV to travel into a parking lot where it hit three other vehicles. The first vehicle struck a pedestrian before flipping and hitting two more vehicles.

The incident resulted in the pedestrian suffering fatal injuries. It was noted that the person was on the sidewalk at the time of the crash. The driver of the first vehicle was taken from the scene to a local hospital but was later released and taken to county jail. He is currently facing criminal charges for DUI, open container, vehicular homicide, and failure to remain in the correct lane.

These allegations are nothing to take lightly. The driver accused in this Georgia crash will undoubtedly wonder how he can best handle the case against him. Fortunately, DUI charges and other allegations do not always end with a conviction, and it may be beneficial for this individual to explore his legal options thoroughly to determine the course of action with which he feels most comfortable.
