Georgia Man Facing Felony Burglary Charges

Police in Georgia recently arrested a man who stole a can of soda. He is facing both felony and misdemeanor charges for the crime. It is unclear when this case will be heard in court.

According to a recent news report, the Cumming Police Department responded to a burglar alarm at the Beverage World Liquor store in the early morning hours of Monday, Aug. 13. When they arrived, they found a 61-year-old male exiting the building. He was unclothed, carrying a can of Coke and also a hammer in hand. He was promptly arrested and transported to the Forsyth County Jail.

Authorities reviewed video footage from the store. They claim it shows the accused using his hammer to gain entrance into the building. He then wandered around the store for a bit, took the can of soda and left. The accused is charged with felony possession of burglary tools, burglary and theft. Bond was set in his case at just under $18,000.

The felony and misdemeanor charges filed in this case can carry significant penalties if prosecuting attorneys are able to secure a conviction in a Georgia criminal court. Consequences in this case may include jail time, fines, community service and a variety of others, depending on any additional details that may come about by further investigating this matter. An experienced criminal defense attorney may be able to assist the accused in fighting to protect his rights and freedom. With the right legal help in his corner, the accused can take the proper steps toward seeking a case dismissal, if possible, or at least seek to minimize any consequences associated with a conviction.
